Former Dong District Mayor Jaeman Lee Announces Candidacy for Daegu Mayor: "Integrated New Airport Is Top City Priority"

Jaeman Lee (66), former Mayor of Dong District, Daegu, will announce his candidacy for Daegu Mayor on December 16.


On this day at 2 p.m., Lee is scheduled to officially declare his intention to run for Daegu Mayor in next year's local elections at the plaza of Dongdaegu Station in Dong District, Daegu.

Through his pre-released declaration, Lee stated, "I will initiate a dynamic new beginning for Daegu, where people can once again live with pride," expressing his intention to run for Daegu Mayor for the third time.


Lee previously served as a two-term Mayor of Dong District and as a Supreme Council member of the Liberty Korea Party.


Highlighting his experience leading major national projects such as the development of Dongdaegu Station, Sinseo Innovation City, Dongdaegu Complex Transfer Center, and Ishiapolis, Lee emphasized, "I have proven myself not with words, but with results."


Former Supreme Council member Lee is expected to state, "I will enhance the value of the Daegu New Airport project by attracting businesses and promoting real estate development," and "I will make the integrated new airport project the top priority of city administration and break ground on it."


Lee also plans to promise, "I will transform Daegu into a city of opportunities through tourism, large-scale development projects, global-level cultural and tourism infrastructure, and a new industrial strategy centered on semiconductors and bio industries." He added, "I will become a mayor who travels anywhere in the world to promote Daegu. I will establish ordinances such as tax incentives in Daegu, and by attracting national projects, I will draw a future blueprint for Daegu with semiconductors and bio industries as the two main pillars."
