The Safe Korea Training is a national disaster response drill conducted annually under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. It aims to assess the response systems of disaster management agencies by simulating various complex disaster scenarios and to strengthen on-site disaster response capabilities.

On October 30, Dongducheon City conducted a drill based on a hypothetical complex disaster scenario involving a wildfire outbreak and spread at Soyo Mountain, leading to a fire at a multi-use facility. A total of 269 participants, including representatives from Dongducheon City, Dongducheon Fire Station, Dongducheon Police Station, eight related agencies, and two private organizations, took part in a practical, hands-on training exercise.

From the preparation stage, the city systematically incorporated feedback from 13 collaborating departments and related agencies, and held pre-drill meetings with leadership to establish a rapid and coordinated inter-agency cooperation system and to enhance practical disaster response capabilities in the event of an incident.

In addition, residents were assigned roles simulating real-life situations and participated in the drill, which increased the realism and effectiveness of the exercise. All participants faithfully performed their assigned roles, successfully completing the training.

This operational success was highly evaluated, and as a result, Dongducheon City achieved the distinction of being selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for the second consecutive year, following last year’s recognition.

Mayor Park Hyungdeok stated, "Thorough preparation and practical training are key to ensuring the safety of our citizens," and added, "We will continue to strengthen on-site response capabilities in cooperation with related agencies to build a safer Dongducheon."
