Changes to English Grade Conversion Scores
Reduced Differences Between Grade Bands
Ajou University will select 742 students, accounting for 33.6% of the total recruitment quota, through the regular admissions process for the 2026 academic year. By admissions group, 178 students will be selected in Group B and 564 in Group C.
Major changes to the admissions process compared to last year include: ▲ the application of point deductions for all admission types based on school violence measures ▲ changes to the minimum CSAT score requirement for the National Defense IT Outstanding Talent Type 2 ▲ and adjustments to the converted scores by English grade. Notably, the converted scores for English grades 1 and 4-9 remain unchanged, while the differences between grades 2 and 3 have been reduced.
CSAT scores will be reflected as follows: ▲ Korean and Mathematics will use standardized scores ▲ Social/Science Studies will use Ajou University's own converted scores ▲ and English will use converted scores according to grade. The university's own converted scores for the Social/Science Studies section will be available on the Ajou University Admissions website after the CSAT results are announced. For the English subject, each recruitment unit will assign designated converted scores by grade, and for Korean History, applicants with a grade of 5 or lower will receive point deductions according to their grade.
For General Admission Type 1 (School of Medicine) and Rural Students Admission (School of Medicine) in Group B, selection will be based on 95% CSAT and 5% interview, with 10 and 1 student(s) selected, respectively. The interview will be conducted as an individual interview based on given prompts. For General Admission Type 2 (College of Pharmacy, Division of Liberal Arts) in Group B and General Admission Type 3 (excluding School of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, Division of Liberal Arts) and General Admission Type 4 (cross-application) in Group C, selection will be based 100% on CSAT scores. Regardless of natural sciences or humanities, the subjects reflected are Korean, Mathematics (no restriction on elective subjects), English, Social/Science Studies (choose two from social or science studies), and Korean History. However, for applicants to natural sciences programs, an additional 3% will be added to the standardized score if Calculus or Geometry is chosen, and an additional 3% will be added to the university’s own converted score if Science Studies is chosen.
The National Defense IT Outstanding Talent Type 2 will select 7 students for the Department of Defense Digital Convergence in Group B through a multi-stage process. In the first stage, 100% of the selection is based on CSAT scores, and five times the number of available seats will be shortlisted. In the second stage, 80% is based on CSAT and 20% on interview. Applicants must meet a minimum CSAT requirement: a combined grade of 6 or lower in Mathematics (no restriction on electives) and the average of two Social/Science Studies subjects (either social or science studies). Physical examination, fitness test, and background check administered by the Air Force Headquarters are not scored but are evaluated on a pass/fail basis. Applicants deemed unqualified in these assessments will be disqualified regardless of their scores, and no waiting list will be assigned.
The application period for regular admissions will be from 9:00 a.m. on December 29 to 6:00 p.m. on December 31. The list of successful candidates in the first stage of the National Defense IT Outstanding Talent Type 2 will be announced separately on the Admissions website on January 7, 2026. Interviews will be held on January 13, 2026 for the National Defense IT Outstanding Talent Type 2 and on January 17, 2026 for the School of Medicine. The final list of successful candidates will be announced on the Admissions website on February 2, 2026.
