Gyeonggi Province will be recruiting the "Opportunity Reporters" from December 16, 2025, to January 9, 2026. These reporters will cover various news and stories from across the province and deliver them to residents.
The Opportunity Reporters program aims to "discover and widely share the diverse opportunities hidden throughout Gyeonggi Province, the capital of opportunity." Reporters will cover provincial news and local issues from the perspective of residents, producing and sharing content in the form of articles, photos, and videos.
Eligible applicants are Gyeonggi Province residents interested in provincial policies and news. The program is divided into the following categories: ▲ Dream Tree Reporters (elementary school students born between 2014 and 2016, including out-of-school youth of the same age group) ▲ Youth Division (youth born after January 1, 2008, residing in Gyeonggi Province, or current middle and high school students in the province) ▲ University Division (university students residing in Gyeonggi Province or currently enrolled in universities within the province) ▲ General Division (adults born before January 1, 2008, residing in Gyeonggi Province, or employees working in the province).
Applicants must submit an application form and one article on a designated topic online.
Detailed application instructions are available on the Gyeonggi Province website and the official Gyeonggi Province blog (http://blog.naver.com/gyeonggi_gov).
Gyeonggi Province will select around 220 reporters in January 2026 and announce the results through the blog.
The selected reporters will begin their activities with a launch ceremony in February 2026 and will be active for about 11 months until the end of the year. Main activities include covering provincial news, field visits, and participating in familiarization tours. At the end of the year, outstanding reporters will receive awards and certificates from the governor, along with various other benefits.
Kim Wonmyung, Director of Public Relations Planning for Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The Opportunity Reporters program is more than just news coverage; it is a resident-participation project in which participants directly experience and vividly convey provincial affairs. We will continue to support the Opportunity Reporters so that they can represent the real voices of residents and deliver in-depth coverage of provincial affairs from diverse perspectives, encompassing all generations, sectors, and regions."
