The first event was held on December 12 at the Geumwang 2-ri Senior Citizens' Association in Yangdong-myeon, where around 30 local seniors attended and experienced the flavor of Yangpyeong wheat and the taste of 'Yangchun Bread' firsthand. The event featured meaningful communication, with participants sharing various opinions and reminiscing about the old-fashioned bread they used to enjoy.

'Yangchun Bread' is a wheat-based product independently researched and developed by the Agricultural Product Processing Research Association with support from the center. Yangpyeong wheat (Baekgang) differs from regular wheat flour, presenting technical challenges such as dough fermentation, maintaining texture, and baking stability. However, after numerous practice sessions and tests, the final recipe was established.

In particular, the fact that the local agricultural research group developed the product solely with its own capabilities, without the involvement of external contractors or specialized companies, is highly significant. This is considered a good example demonstrating that competitive specialty products can be created using only local manpower and resources.

Following this inaugural event, a second sharing event is scheduled for December 20 at the Gongheung 1-ri Community Center in Yangpyeong-eup. The county plans to collect a wide range of feedback from residents on ways to improve the product and its potential uses. Starting with the promotion of Yangchun Bread, Yangpyeong County intends to more actively publicize the excellence of Yangpyeong wheat, thereby increasing interest and consumption.

Joo Seonghye, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "The value is very high because the residents themselves developed a specialty product based on locally produced wheat," adding, "Beginning with this pilot event, we will expand it into a regular sharing and promotional program that will tour the towns and villages on a monthly basis starting next year."
