This competition was co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Women and Family Foundation to foster a gender-equal administrative environment and discover outstanding cases by analyzing and reviewing gender impacts throughout the entire process of policy planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Among the cases submitted by the province and municipalities, ten cases that passed the first and second rounds of screening advanced to the finals. The final awardees were selected by combining expert evaluations with scores from the on-site audience evaluation panel.
Yangju City has been promoting the "Gyeonggi Fashion Creation Studio Operation" project with the aim of supporting next-generation designers and revitalizing the industrial ecosystem through collaboration with local textile companies. The city received high marks for systematically incorporating a gender perspective throughout the policy.
In particular, Yangju City was recognized for its efforts to improve the working environment and expand entrepreneurial opportunities for female creators through initiatives such as: establishing a collaboration network between women-owned businesses and designers; creating women-only rest areas and strengthening safety management; granting additional points to female applicants from areas outside northern Gyeonggi and Seoul; and providing gender sensitivity education for participants.
A Yangju City official stated, "This award is the result of connecting gender impact assessments to actual policy improvements," adding, "We will continue to implement policies that incorporate a gender perspective in the future."
