The Youth Challenge Support Project is a systematic support program funded by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, offering comprehensive and customized programs such as employment and entrepreneurship capacity-building for young people struggling to enter society.
Donghae City first introduced the project in 2024, and it has received strong responses each year, with 54 participants in 2024 and 96 participants in 2025.
Eligible applicants are young people aged between 18 and 45 who have not been employed for at least the past six months and do not have a business registration. Applications can be submitted online or in person at the Donghae City Youth Challenge Support Center.
Additionally, a job-seeking incentive of 500,000 won is provided upon completion of each five-week course, and those who find employment and remain in their job for more than three months after completing the program will receive an additional employment retention allowance.
The program consists of short-term, mid-term, and long-term courses, allowing participants to choose according to their circumstances and goals. Recruitment is conducted by batch and by course, so interested applicants can inquire at any time and join the batch that suits them.
Participating youth can experience tangible growth through step-by-step programs such as confidence-building, job search skills, and basic entrepreneurship education. The program’s track record shows that many participants have successfully found employment.
Im Sungbin, Head of the Economic Affairs Division, said, "The Youth Challenge Support Project is not just an educational program, but a growth platform that helps young people believe in their own potential and take on new challenges," adding, "I hope many young people will use this opportunity to discover new career paths and possibilities."
