On December 15, LG Uplus announced that it will launch the 'Salvation Army QR Code Charity Pot' campaign in collaboration with the Salvation Army to promote a culture of donation during the year-end season.
This campaign allows customers visiting LG Uplus' directly operated stores nationwide to easily participate in donations by scanning the QR code attached to the charity pot inside the store with their smartphones. It was designed to introduce a new method of donation in response to the decreasing use of cash.
The campaign will run until March next year at 87 directly operated stores across the country, and all funds raised will be delivered to the Salvation Army to support vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots nationwide.
LG Uplus plans to continue its collaboration with the Salvation Army to further promote mobile-based, convenient donation practices, including QR code donations.
Hong Bongsik, Communications Director of the Salvation Army, said, "Through our partnership with LG Uplus, we have been able to expand citizen participation in sharing initiatives nationwide." Lee Hongryeol, Head of ESG at LG Uplus, stated, "It is meaningful that we are the first in the telecommunications industry to introduce a digital charity pot."
Meanwhile, LG Uplus has carried out various social contribution activities this year, including the 119 Memorial Run, supporting simultaneous movie viewing for people with and without disabilities, and establishing Hope Libraries for visually impaired students.
