"Sorry for Holding the Elevator Too Long": Residents Respond Warmly to Child's Apology Letter A reflection letter written by a child and notes left by residents. Online community

A heartfelt apology letter written by a young child in an apartment elevator touched the hearts of residents, sparking a warm relay of encouraging notes. The courageous act of the child and the parenting approach taken by the parents prompted neighbors to send messages of praise and support.

On the 12th, a post titled "This Is How You Educate Your Children" was uploaded to an online community. In the attached photo, the child's apology letter read, "Hello, I live in unit XXX. This morning, I was holding the elevator. Because of that, others had to wait and couldn't get on. I am truly sorry. I won't do it again."

According to the person who reported the incident, the child from the mentioned unit went out first to hold the elevator while waiting to go down to the underground parking lot with their mother. Because the mother came out late, the residents in the parking lot had to wait longer. Upon realizing this, the mother had both herself and her child write letters of reflection and posted them on the bulletin board.

The child's mother apologized, saying, "I taught my child that even if an action is well-intentioned, it is not truly kind if it causes inconvenience to others," and added, "We will continue to properly teach the manners and rules necessary for communal living, and as parents, we will strive to set a good example ourselves."

Afterward, residents began attaching notes next to the mother and child's apology letters. The notes included warm messages such as, "You waited for your mom with good intentions, but it must have been surprising and confusing for you. Thank you for bravely apologizing," and "I worry that the child might feel discouraged after being scolded, but for some reason, the handwritten letter warms my heart."
