Supplying Two Steam Turbines... Expanding Presence in the Middle East

Doosan Enerbility has secured a contract to supply major equipment for a large-scale gas combined cycle power plant in Qatar.

On December 15, Doosan Enerbility announced that it had signed a contract with Samsung C&T for the supply of major equipment for the “Qatar Facility E Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant.” The contract is valued at approximately 130 billion won. This project involves the construction of a large-scale gas combined cycle power plant with a total capacity of 2,400 MW, located about 10 kilometers southeast of Doha, the capital of Qatar. Doosan Enerbility will supply two 430 MW steam turbines, two generators, and other major auxiliary equipment by 2029.

This contract marks Doosan Enerbility’s second order from Qatar this year, following the approximately 290 billion won “peaking unit” project awarded in March. The company continues to build a strong track record for gas combined cycle power plants in key Middle Eastern markets.

In Saudi Arabia, Doosan Enerbility has consecutively signed contracts to supply steam turbines and generators for two gas combined cycle power plant projects: the “Ghazlan 2 Expansion” and the “Hajar Expansion.” The total value of these contracts amounts to 340 billion won.

Son Seungwoo, Head of Power Services Business Group at Doosan Enerbility, stated, “With consecutive orders in Qatar and the expansion of supply contracts across the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, we are solidifying our position in the global gas combined cycle power plant market. Based on the trust in our products, we will continue to strengthen our order competitiveness by providing solutions optimized to customer needs.”
