Resolving Fragmented Chemical Information... KRICT Fully Launches "KRICT Chemical Information Platform"

Integrating Dispersed Chemical Information with AI
Supporting Decision-Making in Research, Industry, and Policy

An integrated platform that consolidates policy, research, and industry information scattered across the domestic chemical sector has been officially launched. The Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology has established the nation’s first specialized information platform for the chemical field, taking on the role of supporting data-driven decision-making.

The Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (President Lee Youngkuk) announced on December 15 that it is officially opening the “KRICT Chemical Information Platform,” which provides integrated access to key information such as chemical policy, research trends, and industry statistics. This specialized information infrastructure is designed to enable researchers, companies, and policymakers to access essential chemical and convergent science and technology information in a one-stop manner, powered by artificial intelligence.

Until now, chemical sector information was dispersed across government ministries, R&D institutions, and the industry, making it difficult to comprehensively grasp the latest trends and statistics. To address this issue, the institute has conducted demand surveys targeting the industry, academia, and research sectors since 2023 and has been working to build a customized platform that reflects on-site needs.

One-Stop Chemical Data System Connecting Research, Industry, and Policy

The KRICT Chemical Information Platform aims to serve as a knowledge information hub by gathering and providing chemical-related information in one place. The platform is structured so that researchers can quickly access technology and research trends and academic papers, companies can view industry size and trade statistics, and policymakers can efficiently find domestic and international chemical and science and technology policy resources.

The platform operates based on three core services: ▲Knowledge Information ▲Data ▲Forum.

The Knowledge Information service integrates policy materials and news, technology and research trends, and major reports from the institute, automatically recommending customized information based on user preferences. Convenience is further enhanced through features such as a scrap function and newsletters.

The Data service provides 145 types of statistical tables across 10 major fields, including industry size, trade, R&D, academic papers, and patents, all visualized as key indicators. By reflecting the latest statistics for 2025, the platform supports timely data access for policy formulation and research planning.

The Forum service is designed as a community space where users can exchange opinions and engage in discussions on major issues in the chemical and science and technology fields, serving not only as an information provider but also as a public forum.

President Lee Youngkuk stated, “This platform will become a key channel for gathering and sharing dispersed knowledge resources with the public. We expect it to enhance research efficiency and make a tangible contribution to strengthening Korea’s chemical competitiveness.”

Going forward, the institute plans to further develop the KRICT Chemical Information Platform into a core knowledge infrastructure for the national chemical sector by enhancing its content and services.
