Gyeonggi Province to Provide 75 Billion Won in "Opportunity Income" to Farmers and Fishermen in 25 Cities and Counties

Starting on December 15, Gyeonggi Province will provide 75 billion won in local currency as "Farmers and Fishermen Opportunity Income" to 193,000 farmers and fishermen in 25 cities and counties within the province. Earlier this year, Gyeonggi Province had already distributed 60.9 billion won in the first half of the year.

The "Farmers and Fishermen Opportunity Income" is Gyeonggi Province's flagship support policy for farmers and fishermen, designed to recognize the social value of agriculture and fisheries and to create a sustainable rural community through fair income compensation. Individual farmers and fishermen registered with agricultural and fisheries management entities in the province receive between 50,000 and 150,000 won per month, up to a maximum of 600,000 to 1.8 million won per year, provided in local currency.

After completing the eligibility review, Gyeonggi Province will begin distributing the local currency on December 15, starting in Yongin City and expanding to all 25 cities and counties in the province. The payment schedule for each city and county can be checked at the respective town, township, or neighborhood administrative welfare centers.

Lee Moonmu, Director of Agricultural Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The Farmers and Fishermen Opportunity Income is not simply a support measure, but a policy that fairly recognizes and rewards the value that rural communities have contributed to our society. I hope that many farmers and fishermen will feel a real sense of stability in their lives and gain hope through this support."
