An Experimental Stage Where Changwon’s Urban Context
Meets Contemporary Interpretations by Domestic and International Artists
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam Province announced on the 14th that the Changwon Cultural Foundation is exhibiting the 2026 Changwon Sculpture Biennale Prologue Exhibition, titled 'Resonance Tuning: Overture for Resonance Spaces,' until the 28th.
This prologue exhibition serves as a platform to pre-adjust and experiment with the artistic direction that will unfold in the main exhibition in 2026. It focuses on creating new resonance by combining the textures of Changwon’s history, space, and industry with the sensory interpretations of domestic and international artists.
The exhibition features a total of 25 works, including sculptures and media art. Participating artists present the starting point of the creative process that leads to the main exhibition. In particular, the 'Changwon Sculpture Biennale Atlas,' which organizes the keywords of Changwon’s history, culture, and memory on a map, is showcased to further strengthen the regional narrative and context of the exhibition.
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, "I hope this exhibition will allow citizens to experience art more closely and provide an opportunity for the biennale to naturally blend into the city’s daily life." He added, "Based on the achievements and feedback from the prologue exhibition, we will enhance the quality of the 2026 main exhibition and elevate the biennale to an internationally recognized sculpture event."
