Hwasun County in Jeonnam announced that it received the Grand Prize at the "2025 Jeonnam Agricultural Development Project International Agricultural Expo Comprehensive Evaluation," which was held at the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services on December 11.

The 2025 International Agricultural Expo, held under the theme "Agriculture Changes the World," was a large-scale international event with participation from over 380 institutions and companies from 25 countries.

Hwasun County achieved significant results in promoting local agricultural products by operating promotional and sales booths linked to the county's World Heritage dolmen sites and by presenting various content, such as creating the Hwasun Flower River Music Fountain Garden using agricultural by-products (tomato stems).

In addition, on the same day, Ye Eunju, an agricultural extension officer at the Agricultural Technology Center, won the Excellence Award at the "2025 Jeonnam Rural Extension Award" ceremony.

The "Jeonnam Rural Extension Award" is given to agricultural extension officers with over 10 years of service who have contributed to the development of local agriculture and rural communities and the dissemination of technology, based on their dedication, passion, and expertise in rural development projects. Final recipients are selected through document and presentation evaluations.

Extension officer Ye Eunju was recognized for her contributions to establishing the Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Center and supporting the production of safe food, as well as for her role in registering sword bean pods as a food ingredient.

Furthermore, Hwasun County's achievements stood out in the field of professional education for farmers within the Jeonnam Rural Development Project. The county was selected as an excellent institution by simultaneously operating practical education for farmers for the new year and public direct payment system training, and by systematically running long-term courses for the Hanwoo (Korean beef) department and new farmer department.

In particular, the county received high praise for resolving farmers' difficulties through on-site consulting on new technologies for regionally specialized items, targeting farms that required small-scale, crop-specific field education.

Ryu Changsu, Director of the Hwasun County Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "This achievement is the result of all our staff working together for the advancement of Hwasun agriculture," and added, "We will continue to communicate closely with farmers and proactively respond to the changing agricultural environment to create sustainable local agriculture."
