On December 12, Gyeonggi Province held the '2025 Atopic Dermatitis and Asthma Prevention and Management Project Performance Conference' at Sono Calm Goyang and presented awards to seven outstanding organizations and individuals.

This event was organized by the Northern Gyeonggi Atopic Dermatitis and Asthma Education Information Center (entrusted to the National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital). About 100 officials from city and county health centers and Safe Schools attended to share best practices and future plans.

The Suji District Health Center in Yongin, Unjeong Health Center in Paju, and Sujeong District Health Center in Seongnam, as well as Yangpyeong Danwol Elementary School and Bucheon Yeokgok Hana Daycare Center, along with Director Han Sangmi of Gwangju Opo Neungpyeong Daycare Center and School Nurse Lee Miyoung of Yangju Eunhyeon Elementary School, received the Governor's Award.

The Suji District Health Center in Yongin contributed to improving the quality of life for local residents through multifaceted projects, including operating Safe Schools for atopic dermatitis and asthma, developing forest healing and musical programs, and providing medical expense support for vulnerable groups. Yangpyeong Danwol Elementary School enhanced students' and parents' self-care abilities by implementing the 'Atopic Dermatitis and Asthma Zero Green School' program, which offers tailored education. Director Han Sangmi has operated a Safe School since 2018, signed the region's first Safe Hospital agreement, and was highly evaluated for protecting children's health through meticulous environmental management.

Gyeonggi Province has improved awareness of allergic diseases and expanded the designation of Safe Schools through the operation of the Atopic Dermatitis and Asthma Education Information Center.

The 'Atopic Dermatitis and Asthma Safe School' initiative, which began in three elementary schools in 2007, has expanded to 820 schools by 2025. The center provided customized education for patients, medical professionals, teachers, parents, and emergency responders. In particular, the anaphylaxis emergency response training for emergency responders, which has been consistently conducted for 14 years, raised their awareness of anaphylaxis from the 30-point range to the 90-point range.

To operate the Atopic Dermatitis and Asthma Education Information Center, Gyeonggi Province received additional support from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency last year and now operates one center each in the southern and northern regions, entrusted to Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital, respectively. Through these efforts, the province plans to provide accurate information on allergic diseases and improve the level of allergic disease management in the local community.

Lee Jongik, Director of the Health Promotion Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Early prevention and continuous management are crucial for allergic diseases. We will guarantee residents' right to health by strengthening customized education programs and community cooperation networks centered on the Education Information Center."
