A man in his 50s has been arrested by the police after fatally attacking an acquaintance with a weapon, allegedly because he felt disrespected.
On December 12, the Wonju Police Station in Gangwon Province announced that they had apprehended a man in his 50s, identified as A, on suspicion of murder and were currently investigating him.
According to the police, at around 8:10 p.m. the previous day, A attacked and killed his acquaintance, a man in his 50s identified as B, with a weapon at a restaurant in Myeongnyun-dong, Wonju City.
While drinking, A decided to kill B, with whom he had a poor relationship, and left the restaurant to purchase a weapon at a mart about 2 kilometers away before committing the crime.
When the restaurant owner reported A to the police, he immediately fled the scene by taxi. However, following a report from the taxi driver, he was urgently apprehended near a bar in Dankye-dong, Wonju City, at around 8:30 p.m. the previous day.
According to the investigation, after getting into the taxi, A made incoherent remarks, saying that he had stabbed someone with a weapon. The suspicious taxi driver reported this to the police immediately after dropping A off, leading to his arrest.
A told the police that he committed the crime because B had disrespected him.
The police are investigating A to determine the specific circumstances and motive of the crime and plan to apply for an arrest warrant in the afternoon of the same day.
