Presidential Briefing Held on December 12
On December 12, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Yoonduk stated, "We will announce the new administration's direction for promoting residential welfare in the first half of next year."
During a presidential work report held at the Government Sejong Convention Center in Sejong City on this day, Minister Kim declared, "We will firmly supply 1.1 million public housing units to rebuild the housing ladder." The supply of 1.1 million public housing units is one of the key national policy tasks of the Lee Jaemyung administration.
Minister Kim added, "We will provide high-quality housing quickly and sufficiently in locations desired by the public," and continued, "In public housing sites in the Seoul metropolitan area, we will begin construction on more than 50,000 units and offer 29,000 units for sale next year, while also initiating full-scale move-ins to the third-generation new towns."
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to work with the National Assembly to establish a Special Act on Construction Safety in order to reduce construction accidents. The plan includes clearly defining safety management responsibilities and increasing the level of sanctions in the event of fatal accidents to ensure safety at construction sites. Regarding aviation safety, the ministry will pursue facility improvements and increase the number of air traffic controllers.
Additionally, as part of efforts to revitalize local regions, the second phase of public institution relocations will begin in 2027. The ministry also plans to implement structural reforms at Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and promote the integration of Korea Railroad Corporation and SR. In terms of economic growth, the ministry reported on measures to strengthen the competitiveness of autonomous vehicles, enhance future mobility solutions such as urban air mobility (UAM), and develop new models for winning overseas construction projects.
