SHINee's Onew Addresses "Jusaimo" Allegations: "Only Received Skin Care at Hospital"

Agency Responds to Allegations
"The Signed CD Was Simply an Expression of Gratitude for Treatment"

As allegations of illegal medical practices involving broadcaster Park Narae spread to fellow celebrities, Onew, a member of the group SHINee, has addressed suspicions regarding his relationship with the so-called “Jusaimo.”

On December 11, Onew’s agency, Griffin Entertainment, released a statement saying, “In April 2022, Onew first visited a hospital in Sinsa-dong where Mr. A (Jusaimo) works, based on a recommendation from an acquaintance. Given the size and scale of the hospital at the time, it was difficult to recognize the medical license controversy that is now being raised online.” The agency further explained that the visit was for “skin care purposes.”

Previously, suspicions about Onew’s relationship with Mr. A arose after Mr. A posted on Instagram. The post included a photo of a CD, believed to have been gifted by Onew to Mr. A, with a handwritten message: “OO Nuna. Thank you for teaching me how to speak up and for being my bamboo forest. It’s embarrassing, but I’ll hold it in since my face would turn upside down. Thank you.”

Some have raised suspicions that Onew may have maintained a close relationship with Mr. A by receiving illegal medical services from someone without a domestic medical license. In response, the agency clarified, “The signed CD was simply an expression of gratitude for the treatment received.”

The agency added, “We deeply regret the indiscriminate spread and reproduction of stories that are not based on fact regarding our artist. We hope that no further speculation will arise, and we will continue to do our utmost to protect our artist’s reputation and rights.”

Meanwhile, the current controversy began when two of Park Narae’s former managers accused her of abuse of power and embezzlement. During this process, allegations emerged that Park Narae repeatedly received illegal medical services, such as IV infusions and proxy prescriptions, from Mr. A, who does not have a domestic medical license. Following this, medical organizations filed complaints against Park Narae and “Jusaimo.” The Ministry of Health and Welfare, the relevant authority, stated, “Establishing the facts through a police investigation is the priority,” and announced that further actions, including disciplinary measures, would be taken once the facts are established.
