Police Transfer Two Cases from Fallen Marine Special Prosecutor to Ministry of National Defense Prosecutors’ Office

The Special Investigation Headquarters for the Three Major Special Prosecutions of the National Police Agency announced on December 11 that it has transferred two cases (involving five suspects) in which the accused are active-duty military personnel, among the cases handed over from the Special Prosecutor for the Fallen Marine, to the Ministry of National Defense Prosecutors’ Office.

Through a press release on the same day, the Special Investigation Headquarters stated, “We are currently investigating three cases that were handed over from the Special Prosecutor for the Fallen Marine,” and specified, “These are the case involving the leak of investigative information at the North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency, the case of dereliction of duty and abuse of authority by a standing commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission, and the case of former Black Pearl Invest CEO Lee Jongho’s alleged violation of the Attorney-at-Law Act.”


The Special Investigation Headquarters is organized into three teams to correspond with the three major special prosecution cases. The investigation team for the fallen marine cases, which took over the cases from the Special Prosecutor for the Fallen Marine after concluding the investigation on November 28, is led by Chief Superintendent Kang Ilgu.
