President Lee Jaemyung Receives Work Reports from Ministry of Economy and Finance and Others on December 11
"Sends Personnel Issues Anonymously, Will Address Them Immediately"
On December 11, President Lee Jaemyung pointed out, "Just as a single loach can muddy the clear water in a pond, a very small number of public officials can cloud the system." He also stated that if there are any serious personnel issues within the public sector, "Please send them anonymously via Telegram. I will address them immediately."
President Lee made these remarks during a government work report session held at the Sejong Convention Center, attended by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and other government agencies. Starting today, President Lee will visit Sejong, Seoul, Busan, and other locations to receive New Year work reports from 228 public institutions, including 19 ministries, 5 offices, 18 agencies, and 7 commissions. The Ministry of Economy and Finance is the first to present its report, and unless national security or other special circumstances require otherwise, the entire process will be broadcast live.
President Lee stated, "There is a tendency to suspect that public officials are not working, but I do not think that way," adding, "The overwhelming majority are truly striving to fulfill their original roles with dedication." He emphasized, "In general, many public officials make great efforts not to disappoint the people."
President Lee also said, "Personnel matters are the greatest concern and the most important issue for public officials," and added, "We are trying to handle them as fairly, transparently, and rationally as possible." He continued, "Of course, there are cases where good intentions do not get through," and noted, "Ensuring fairness in personnel management is one of my most important responsibilities."
He remarked, "Currently, the international order is unstable, and I believe we are at a kind of crossroads," stressing, "The future of this country depends on public officials. The lives of the next generation also depend on them," and called for responsible policymaking.
