On the 11th, Governor Kim posted on his social networking service (SNS), stating, "As technology advances, methods of tax evasion are also evolving," and added, "Virtual assets are a prime example."

He continued, "The virtual asset tracking and delinquency management system proactively established by Gyeonggi Province has received the Government Innovation Presidential Award," and attributed the achievement to "the efforts of our Gyeonggi Province employees who identified administrative loopholes and pioneered new solutions."

Previously, on December 10, Gyeonggi Province received the Presidential Award at the "2025 Government Innovation Champions" event hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, after presenting its innovative results that combined precise virtual asset tracking with an electronic management system for delinquent asset disposition.

The Government Innovation Champions event recognizes outstanding innovation cases from central government agencies, local governments, and public institutions. This year, 513 cases were submitted nationwide across three categories. After the first round of expert review and a second round of public evaluation, 41 cases were selected as finalists.

To address the issue of delinquent taxpayers hiding assets using virtual assets, Gyeonggi Province established a "proactive virtual asset tracking-based delinquent tax collection model." Through this initiative, the province identified and seized virtual asset accounts held by over 5,000 individuals. Of these, 1,600 individuals paid a total of 5 billion won through forced collection and voluntary payment.
