This award recognized the high evaluation received for completing repairs on 105 houses through the "Saemnae Village Exterior House Repair Project," which targeted residentially vulnerable areas with a high concentration of aging homes.
The project is credited not only for renovating old houses but also for improving the local image by creating landscapes that restore the village's identity and increasing the inflow of new residents.
To sustain these achievements, the city plans to operate the Saemnae Village Alley Design College, which will promote alley landscape improvements that reflect the unique identity and stories of the village in physical spaces. Additionally, the city will foster small-scale house repair projects led by the Village Management Social Cooperative, aiming to establish a sustainable residential environment improvement system even after the completion of the urban regeneration initiative.
Furthermore, in 2026, the city intends to launch a third round of exterior house repairs for approximately 60 additional aging homes, with the goal of expanding the positive impact of residential environment improvement throughout the region.
The Sanbuk Urban Regeneration Project has comprehensively improved living conditions by supporting exterior house repairs, renovating the Jungnangcheon deck trail, creating safe school routes, implementing stencil paving, installing photoluminescent stone road surfaces, and building clean houses. As a result, the overall safety and comfort of residential areas have been enhanced, and the exterior house repair project achieved a satisfaction score of 9.17 out of 10, demonstrating tangible results.
Lee Dongseop, Head of the Urban Regeneration Division, stated, "The changes we have created together with residents have led to the achievement of the Grand Prize," adding, "We will continue to create pleasant and safe living environments through ongoing urban regeneration."
Meanwhile, in December 2022, Yangju City was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's urban regeneration project contest, and is currently promoting an urban regeneration revitalization project covering 111,048 square meters, with a total project budget of 14.37 billion won to be invested by 2026.
