Search and Seizure Operations Conducted at Offices of the "Big Three" Flour Milling Companies
The prosecution has launched a compulsory investigation into Daehan Flour Mills, Sajo DongA One, and CJ CheilJedang in connection with allegations of flour price collusion.
The Fair Trade Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, headed by Chief Prosecutor Na Heeseok, began conducting search and seizure operations on the morning of December 11, targeting the offices of major flour milling companies and individuals involved in the case on suspicion of colluding to fix the price of flour, a basic necessity, over several years.
Prosecutors have dispatched investigators to the headquarters of Daehan Flour Mills in Jung-gu, Seoul, Sajo DongA One in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and CJ CheilJedang in Jung-gu, Seoul, to secure materials related to price collusion and shipment volume adjustments.
Previously, in October, the Korea Fair Trade Commission conducted on-site inspections of seven flour milling companies as part of its investigation into price-fixing allegations.
The prosecution has classified the flour price collusion allegations as so-called "crimes disrupting the livelihood economy" and has launched a proactive investigation independent of the Fair Trade Commission's procedures.
