Amid growing concerns about an exodus of key talent from Apple, it has been reported that Johnny Srouji, Senior Vice President overseeing the chip division, has stated he has no plans to leave the company for the time being. According to Yonhap News on December 8 (local time), citing Bloomberg, Srouji, Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies, addressed employees regarding rumors about his possible departure through a memo shared within his department.

According to Yonhap News, Srouji said, "I am aware of all the rumors and speculation about my future at Apple, and I felt it was necessary to address you directly." He added, "I love my team and I love my work at Apple," making it clear that he has no plans to leave the company in the near future.

Previously, on December 7, foreign media outlets such as PhoneArena reported that Srouji had recently informed Apple CEO Tim Cook that he was seriously considering resigning in the near future, and that CEO Cook had made efforts to retain him.

In response, Apple reportedly offered Srouji a substantial compensation package and suggested the possibility of taking on a larger role. Specifically, there was discussion about promoting him to Chief Technology Officer (CTO), overseeing all of hardware engineering and silicon technologies. As these rumors spread, Srouji directly addressed employees to dispel the speculation about his departure.

Since joining Apple in 2008, Srouji has led the development of in-house designed chips (SoCs) that are considered a key competitive edge distinguishing the iPhone, iPad, and Mac product lines from competitors. The so-called "Apple Silicon" chips have been credited with maximizing the performance and efficiency of Apple products and solidifying Apple's position in the market.

Rumors about Srouji's departure have emerged amid a series of recent senior executive exits at Apple. Jeff Williams, who was once considered a potential successor to CEO Cook, reportedly retired last month. In addition, John Giannandrea, Senior Vice President who led the artificial intelligence (AI) division, and Kate Adams, Senior Vice President who has overseen legal affairs since 2017, are both said to have decided to step down from their positions.

There has also been news that Alan Dye, who has overseen Apple's user interface (UI) design, is moving to Meta. According to Bloomberg, some observers have even speculated that CEO Cook may be preparing for retirement.
