On December 10, Diageo announced the official launch of the limited edition "Mortlach Neverbound," a new addition to its premium single malt whisky line "Mortlach," in the Korean market.
Mortlach is the first officially licensed distillery in Scotland, established in 1823. It is characterized by its unique 2.81-times distillation process developed by founder Alexander Cowie. Although Cowie began his career as a physician, he became fascinated by distillation and applied a scientific and engineering approach to whisky production. The fusion of his scientific knowledge and experimental mindset led to the creation of the 2.81-times distillation process, which delivers a distinctive flavor profile rarely found in other Speyside whiskies. This has become a key element behind Mortlach's reputation as "The Beast of Dufftown."

"Mortlach Neverbound" is a modern reinterpretation of the boldness that symbolizes the brand. During the distillate production process, copper contact is minimized to enhance complex spice notes, rich meaty flavors, and dark fruit characteristics. The distillate is first matured in refill ex-American oak casks and then finished in French oak casks that have been naturally air-dried for four years in the Cognac region of France, adding further depth and umami.
Diageo Korea selected department stores and hotels as sales channels to effectively communicate the accessible luxury that Mortlach Neverbound aspires to. To celebrate the launch, from December 12, customers will have the first opportunity to experience Mortlach Neverbound at "The Paring," a dining space located on the 6th floor of Lotte Department Store Jamsil AvenueL.
Jung Donghyuk, Marketing Executive Director at Diageo Korea, stated, "'Mortlach Neverbound' is a bold result that embodies the brand's philosophy of pushing beyond boundaries. We hope consumers will discover Mortlach's signature intense and distinctive flavors through 'Neverbound,' as well as explore new possibilities and frontiers in single malt whisky."
