Senior Health and Fashion Show
A Program for Restoring Confidence
Have you seen the fashion performance "Active Walking" presented by seniors?
The Lifelong Education Center at Tongmyong University (headed by Professor Kim Minkyo) announced on December 9 that it had successfully held the "Active Walking 1st Class Beginner Course Completion Ceremony and Showcase" on December 4.
This completion ceremony, held for the first time at Tongmyong University, drew attention as it featured a joint fashion show in collaboration with the Department of Modeling at Busan Women's University.
The "Active Walking 1st Class" program is designed to help seniors develop proper posture and regain confidence and self-esteem. It was launched to support seniors in planning a second chapter of life as distinguished senior models through healthy self-management. From the outset, it attracted attention for its openness, allowing anyone to participate regardless of age, height, or body type.
Several distinguished guests attended the event, including designer Kim Taehee; the Super Top Korea Organizing Committee; Busan Economic Broadcasting; UNPEC Social Cooperative; Education Union News; Joy News 24; BuuL Gyeong Welfare TV; Milky Way Lions Club; and representatives from Lee Suyeon Healing Arts Center, among others, lending their support to the occasion.
The spoon Nanta performance and Janggu drum performance by the Healing Arts Center team, led by Chairwoman Lee Suyeon, energized the atmosphere. The lively rhythms and powerful performances complemented the fashion show stage, highlighting the passion and spirit of challenge among the senior models.
Graduates of the Active Walking program shared their thoughts: "By stepping onto the fashion show stage ourselves, we experienced the excitement and sense of accomplishment that comes with new challenges, and in the process, we regained vitality in our lives through healthy and positive energy."
Professor Kim Minkyo emphasized, "Active Walking is a program that any senior can take on, providing a platform to rediscover one's beauty and pursue new dreams. We will continue to expand a variety of cultural, artistic, and health programs so that seniors can maintain a healthy life, establishing ourselves as an open lifelong education institution that works together with the local community."
The Active Walking program is now recruiting students for the 2nd weekday class, scheduled for February 2026. Applications are available on the Tongmyong University Lifelong Education Center website.
