According to Seo-gu District on December 9, this award was established by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency to recognize and raise the pride of local governments across the country that have made dedicated contributions to biological terrorism response.
Seo-gu District has contributed to strengthening the community’s crisis management capabilities by updating its biological terrorism response manual, reinforcing cooperative systems with related organizations, and providing personnel training.
In particular, last month, Seo-gu District conducted a large-scale joint exercise simulating a suspected anthrax situation. Together with the police, fire department, military, and other relevant organizations, the district thoroughly reviewed the entire process-from initial reporting and on-site response to epidemiological investigation and inter-agency coordination-under realistic conditions, earning high praise.
Lee Wongu, Director of Seo-gu Public Health Center, stated, "This award is the result of collaborative efforts we have prepared together with related organizations," and added, "We will continue to do our best to protect the safety of our residents through effective training and systematic response."
