Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province has been selected as the top institution in the city and county evaluation for the freight transportation sector.
On December 8, Gyeonggi Province announced that it had comprehensively evaluated the annual work performance of 31 cities and counties across seven areas, including registration and management of freight vehicle transport businesses, creation of temporary parking lots, crackdowns on illegal activities, and discovery of special policies, to encourage proactive administration in the freight transportation sector. As a result, one top institution and two excellent institutions were selected.
Uijeongbu City received high marks for its field-oriented response capabilities, including the creation of temporary parking lots utilizing vacant military base land, operation of a notification system for the expiration of operating freight vehicle parking permits, and cooperation in joint inspections of suspected fraudulent recipients of fuel subsidies.
Namyangju City and Ansan City were selected as excellent institutions.
Six public officials from the top-ranked local governments in this evaluation will receive commendations from the provincial governor. In addition, thirteen freight transport workers and five related associations and organizations will be recognized for their contributions to provincial administration cooperation.
Kim Kibum, Director of the Railways, Ports, and Logistics Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "This year’s inaugural city and county evaluation in the freight transportation sector has greatly contributed to enhancing the professionalism and execution of freight transportation administration," adding, "We will actively utilize it as foundational data for policy implementation in 2026."
