Regarding allegations of power abuse, illegal medical practices, and embezzlement surrounding broadcaster Park Narae, Munhwa Ilbo reported on December 7 that Park Narae's mother transferred 10 million won each to two former managers, totaling 20 million won, and later had the funds returned. The transfers were made without prior agreement, and it was reported that the managers immediately returned the money and lodged a protest.
According to the report, Park Narae’s mother, who is also the CEO of her agency, deposited 10 million won into each of the two former managers’ accounts at around 10 p.m. on December 4. This occurred about seven hours after news broke that the former managers had filed a provisional real estate seizure request, citing alleged power abuse and injury by Park Narae. In relation to this, the former managers stated, “There was no prior agreement whatsoever, and we returned the money immediately after it was deposited. Our attorney also sent a message to her mother advising her to refrain from such actions.”
Park Narae’s side also acknowledged the facts, explaining, “Her mother transferred the money based on her personal judgment after seeing her daughter struggling.” At the time of the transfer, Park Narae and her agency were in the process of negotiating a settlement with the former managers. Although the transfer was not made as part of the settlement process, there is a possibility that it could be interpreted unfavorably in legal proceedings since the agency’s CEO is her mother.
The agency added, “The transfer was a personal decision by her mother, and there was no prior consultation with Park Narae. All funds have been returned.” The agency further stated, “After leaving the company, the former managers made additional excessive demands and applied pressure, and the situation worsened due to claims that do not align with the facts. We are therefore preparing legal action.”
Currently, Park Narae and her former managers are engaged in ongoing legal battles. The former managers have filed criminal complaints against Park Narae on charges including aggravated assault, embezzlement, and defamation, while Park Narae, considering these allegations to be false, has filed a counter-complaint for blackmail.
In addition, if a complaint regarding Park Narae’s alleged illegal medical practices is submitted to the National Sinmungo, an investigation is expected to follow. The attorney representing Park Narae stated, “The IV and medical treatment Park Narae received were all legitimate medical services and fall within the scope of services available to ordinary patients.”
