DBpia AI Commercialization on Track... Upgrading Features with Floating and Agent Services Provided by DBpia

Nuri Media, the operator of the academic content platform DBpia, announced that its generative AI service, 'DBpia AI,' is becoming an essential academic solution for university libraries nationwide.

Nuri Media released the 2025 subscription contract status for DBpia AI, revealing that a total of 122 university libraries have adopted and utilized the DBpia AI pilot service so far. Among them, 16 universities-including Hanyang University, Dongguk University (Seoul), Pusan National University, Dongduk Women's University, and Korea University of Technology and Education-signed official subscription contracts in the first week of December, marking the full-scale introduction of the service.

DBpia AI is a generative AI dedicated to academic use, operating on a database of over 4 million Korean papers and more than 270 million international papers. It is distinguished by its ability to dramatically reduce the chronic issue of 'hallucination' found in conventional generative AI, and by providing reliable paper sources alongside its answers. Thanks to these strengths, it is highly regarded in university research and learning environments where accurate evidence is essential.

The DBpia AI service offers features such as ▲'AI Search,' which answers questions based on academic papers; ▲'AI Idea,' which recommends report and research topics and suggests outlines; and ▲'AI Viewer,' which summarizes papers and answers related questions. These features help students overcome the initial uncertainty often faced at the start of research. In addition, the recently launched beta service 'AI Agent' acts like a research assistant, analyzing insights from papers through conversation and assisting with writing corrections, thus providing comprehensive support throughout the entire research process beyond simple searches.

In particular, Nuri Media has introduced the 'DBpia AI Floating Service,' which significantly enhances user accessibility and has been well received by university libraries.

The 'DBpia AI Floating Service' is a widget-based service that allows users to access AI search and idea recommendation functions directly from the university library website without navigating to a separate page. Users can interact with the AI and explore necessary academic information at any time via a floating button located at the bottom right of the library website.

Currently, a total of 21 universities-including Kwangwoon University, University of Seoul, Cheongju University, Jeonju University, Paichai University, Daejeon University, Daejin University, and Shinhan University-have decided to implement the floating service. As of December 2, the service has already been deployed on the library websites of 17 universities, allowing enrolled students to use it.

Choi Soonil, CEO of Nuri Media, stated, "The DBpia AI Floating Service also supports multiple languages, helping to lower the barriers for international students to access Korean academic resources," and added, "We will continue to enhance our services so that researchers can explore academic information more efficiently and conveniently."
