At approximately 7:30 p.m. on December 5, smoke was detected on a KTX train traveling from Busan Station to Haengsin Station as it was entering Cheonan Asan Station in Asan, South Chungcheong Province.

The smoke originated in the locomotive's engine room and was extinguished on its own in about 13 minutes.

All 388 passengers on board evacuated the train, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The fire department and Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
