The "Community Contribution Recognition Program," implemented since 2019, is a system that acknowledges companies and organizations that have continuously carried out community contribution activities based on partnerships with non-profit organizations.
KIOST has leveraged the geographical characteristics of its main office in Busan and its various branches to conduct year-round coastal marine environment clean-up activities. The institute also operates a range of social contribution programs utilizing its expertise in marine science, such as after-school creative classes and scholarship support for outstanding local students.
In particular, since last year, KIOST has made a tangible contribution to job creation and improvement for people with disabilities in the local community by connecting coffee grounds generated at the "I got everything" job caf? for people with severe disabilities to be collected and recycled by local seniors.
Lee Heeseung, President of KIOST, stated, "We will continue to strengthen coexistence and cooperation with the local community, focusing on our headquarters and branches, and faithfully fulfill our social responsibility as a public institution."
