The Presidential Office unveiled the Lee Jaemyung Presidential commemorative wristwatch on December 5.
Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, announced at a briefing in Yongsan, Seoul on this day, "To mark the six-month anniversary of President Lee's inauguration, we are releasing the wristwatch."
Spokesperson Kang explained, "The front of the watch features the presidential emblem and signature, just like traditional presidential wristwatches. In addition, the traditional Taegeuk pattern was incorporated to enhance the aesthetic quality of the product, while also symbolizing the legitimacy of the Republic of Korea and expressing wishes for national unity."
The phrase "A nation where the people are the owners" is engraved on the back of the watch in President Lee's own handwriting. Kang further explained, "This reflects the President's intention to communicate with the people anytime and anywhere, and to embody the people's sovereign will."
Spokesperson Kang emphasized, "With the release of this wristwatch, we are reminded once again of the President's governing philosophy that one hour of the President or a public official is equivalent to the 52 million hours of the entire nation. Based on this, we will do our utmost in state administration to improve the lives of the people."
