This agreement, which was signed at the Korea Federation of SMEs in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, aims to establish a support system to help small business owners and self-employed individuals replace their internal combustion engine cargo vehicles with eco-friendly electric vehicles.
The 'KC-1' (tentative name), which will be supplied through this agreement, is a two-seater light electric van available in various models such as cargo, box truck, and pickup, allowing users to choose based on the transportation needs of their industry. The vehicles will be offered at reasonable prices by utilizing government and local government subsidies, as well as member discounts from the Korea Federation of SMEs. The Cooperative will also provide guidance on applying for subsidies and support with registration and delivery procedures to reduce the administrative burden during the transition process.
In addition, the Cooperative will utilize its network of 15 regional offices nationwide and its cooperative network to promote the distribution project and aggregate the vehicle adoption needs of its members to ensure appropriate supply.
Mir6 and KC Electric Vehicle Sales will be responsible for vehicle production and supply, quality control, and after-sales service systems. They also plan to expand the lineup to include refrigerated trucks, improve battery performance, and develop technology for building charging infrastructure. Furthermore, regular operation and safety training will be provided to members who adopt the vehicles to enhance user understanding.
The Cooperative, Mir6, and KC Electric Vehicle Sales plan to gradually expand their supply targets over the next two years, aiming to distribute 1,000 light electric cargo vehicles in the first year and 2,000 in the second year.
Hwang Inhwan, Chairman of the Cooperative, said, "Replacing existing internal combustion engine cargo vehicles with electric vehicles can reduce carbon emissions by about 1 ton or more per vehicle annually. In addition, subsidies, tax benefits, and savings on fuel and maintenance costs will lower the total cost of ownership, helping small business owners reduce costs and transition to eco-friendly alternatives."
