Snow Removal Equipment, Cold Wave Shelters, and Damaged Farms
Jinan County in North Jeolla Province conducted on-site inspections focusing on disaster-vulnerable areas to prepare for the upcoming winter natural disasters.
On December 5, the county announced that it visited the Baegam-myeon brine spraying facility, the snow removal forward base, cold wave shelters, and the blueberry farming business site that suffered heavy snow damage in January 2025. During these visits, the county meticulously checked the operation status of snow removal equipment, personnel, and facilities.

Through this inspection, the county reviewed its snow removal system, including the securing and storage status of de-icing agents and pre-spreading plans. It also re-examined equipment operation procedures to ensure a swift response in the event of a heavy snow forecast.
In addition, the county checked the heating conditions and the availability of emergency supplies at cold wave shelters, which are operated to protect vulnerable groups, to ensure there would be no inconvenience for residents.
In particular, the county visited blueberry farms that experienced heavy snow damage last year to listen to on-site feedback for preventing recurrence, and decided to strengthen guidance on agricultural response measures and preventive education for farmers.
The county also checked the safety management practices of field workers such as road maintenance staff and equipment operators who are responsible for snow removal work, and reviewed whether pre-safety training and industrial accident prevention measures were being properly implemented.
Meanwhile, since November 15, the county has been operating the "Winter Natural Disaster Countermeasure Period," focusing on proactive measures such as establishing comprehensive road snow removal plans, intensively inspecting vulnerable sections, and strengthening the management of cold wave mitigation facilities to minimize damage.
With this on-site inspection, the county aims to further solidify its winter natural disaster preparedness system and will make disaster prevention its top priority to ensure the safety of residents.
