Minister Choi Hwi-young: "We Will Expand to More Regions"
On December 5 at 4 p.m., the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, will host the "15th Anniversary Event of the Dream Arts Group: Records of Growth, Future of Solidarity" at YTN Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
The Dream Arts Group is a project that has developed Venezuela's free music education program for underprivileged children and youth, "El Sistema," into a Korean-style arts education model. The Dream Arts Group began with the founding of its orchestra in 2010 and has since expanded into various artistic fields, including a dance troupe (2022), a theater troupe (2024), and a visual arts studio (2025). Currently, around 4,500 children and youth are participating at 110 hubs nationwide. The program has also demonstrated talent development, with graduates of the Dream Orchestra joining the National Symphony Orchestra, among other achievements. From August 6 to 8, the "2025 Dream Festival" joint camp was held in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, bringing together 17 domestic Dream Orchestra, dance, and theater hubs and three international youth choirs.

For the 15th anniversary event, about 200 representatives from 73 hubs that have operated the arts group nationwide over the past 15 years will attend, with exchange activities and a commemorative performance scheduled. The commemorative performance will feature current and former members of the Dream Orchestra performing the theme song of the 2025 Dream Festival, "My Tomorrow," as well as "Dream Orchestra," which won the top prize at the 2019 Dream Orchestra Children's Song Contest, among others.
Prior to the performance, a roundtable will be held for arts education stakeholders. The session will gather feedback and suggestions from local sites that operate various arts education support programs, including the Dream Arts Group.
Further details about the anniversary event can be found on the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service website, and the commemorative performance will be broadcast live on YouTube starting at 6 p.m.
Minister Choi Hwi-young stated, "Experiences in arts and culture during childhood provide valuable opportunities for children to express themselves and discover their artistic potential," adding, "Next year, we will expand the Dream Arts Group to more regions so that children across the country can grow together with the arts."
