"A Small Shield Beside Children"... Gyeongbuk Police Complete Comprehensive Inspection of Child Safety Guardians

848 Guardians and 558 Houses Inspected
Outstanding Contributors to Receive Letters of Appreciation

The child protection safety net in North Gyeongsang Province has become even more robust. The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency (Commissioner Oh Bumyeong) announced on December 4 that it conducted a comprehensive inspection of 848 child safety guardians and 558 guardian houses in the province during the 'Second Half Child Safety Guardian (House) Inspection Period' held in November.

This initiative was launched in response to the recent increase in crimes targeting children and growing demands for enhanced safety around schools.

Since September of this year, the Gyeongbuk police have recruited an additional 37 guardians in two rounds. During the inspection period, they directly checked the appropriateness of work locations, patrol routes, work attitude, and compliance with dress codes on site.

Inspections of child safety guardian houses were also strengthened. The Crime Prevention Division at each police station visited guardian houses to check the operation of emergency signs and held meetings with business owners to listen to operational challenges. As a gesture of appreciation, they also delivered encouragement gifts, further strengthening the foundation for public-police cooperation.

Outstanding cases of exemplary activities were also identified during this inspection. Notable examples include a case where a guardian on patrol immediately reported a child showing symptoms of left-hand paralysis, and another where a pothole near a school was discovered and the risk of an accident was eliminated in advance.

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency plans to present letters of appreciation, signed by Commissioner Oh Bumyeong, to these outstanding guardians and guardian house owners.

Commissioner Oh Bumyeong of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency stated, "I deeply appreciate the guardians and guardian house owners who quietly contribute to the safety of our children," adding, "We will do our utmost to enhance the pride of private child protection personnel and further strengthen the local safety net."

The role of guardians who continue their unseen dedication throughout the region has a power that goes beyond institutional measures. This inspection once again confirmed that this 'small but decisive' safety net is functioning effectively.
