Honored for Industry and Service
Growth into a Leading Global Small Enterprise Contributing to Exports
The 16th Dongmyung Awards Ceremony for Industry and Service was held on December 4 at the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Key figures from various sectors, along with Kang Kyungsoo, Chairman of the Dongmyung Cultural Foundation, and Lee Sangcheon, President of Dongmyung University, offered enthusiastic applause. Award recipient Jung Sungwoo, CEO of Gmax Co., Ltd., received a prize of 20 million won.
During the ceremony, Park Hyungjoon, Mayor of Busan, delivered a congratulatory message via video, while Ahn Sungmin, Chairman of Busan Metropolitan Council, Kim Seokjun, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, and Yang Jaesaeng, Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gave congratulatory remarks in person.
Son Youngshin, President of Busan Ilbo, Oh Sangjun, General Director of Kookje Shinmun, Kim Hojin, Vice President of KNN, Kim Donghyun, Director of Busan MBC, Park Jinhyun, Director of KBS Busan Bureau, and Son Daejin, Deputy President of BNK Busan Bank, attended the event alongside previous Dongmyung Award recipients.
From the Dongmyung University AMP, Bang Donguk, President of Mirae Gongjo System Co., Ltd. and President of the Alumni Association, Lee Junseok, CEO of YJ Korea (12th class), Park Jinseong, CEO of Jinseong Real Estate, and Ma Jeomrae, President of MOT Co., Ltd. (11th class), were also present.
With a management philosophy based on integrity and cooperation, CEO Jung Sungwoo has contributed to revitalizing industry in the Busan region. Last year, Gmax Co., Ltd. achieved overseas sales of 52 billion won out of a total revenue of 111.5 billion won, establishing itself as a leading global small and strong enterprise representing Korea.
He became the 15th member of the Honor Society in Busan and served as the president of the Busan Honor Society until recently. Over 13 years, he has held executive positions such as chairman of the Busan Federation of SME Convergence, and has received numerous honors: the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the 2025 SME Convergence Expo, the Busan Art Contribution Award from the Busan Arts and Culture Association in 2025, the Minister’s Commendation from the Ministry of Health and Welfare at the 2024 Nanum National Awards, the Minister’s Commendation from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2022, and the Mayor’s Commendation for Community Welfare from the Busan Metropolitan City in 2021.
The Dongmyung Award, established jointly in 2008 by Busan City, the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BNK Busan Bank, and others, is a representative public service award in Busan. It honors individuals who have contributed to the development of the Busan community, commemorating the legacy of the late Kang Seokjin, founder of Dongmyung Mokjae and Dongmyung Cultural Foundation, who led Korea’s export, industrialization, and modernization as a local entrepreneur.
