Korea University of Technology and Education has signed an agreement with the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) to launch a joint master's program, establishing a strategic educational alliance with an international organization in the global Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
The university announced on December 4 that, on December 3 (local time) in Turin, Italy, it entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ITCILO (International Training Centre of the ILO) to operate a joint master's degree program.
ITCILO is a global capacity-building institution that provides practical training programs for labor, employment, and vocational training experts from over 100 countries worldwide. Under the auspices of the ILO, it operates TVET policies and educational programs.
The signing ceremony was attended by Christophe Perrin, Director of ITCILO; Andreas Klemmer, Director of Training; and Giuseppe Zefola, Deputy Director.
In June, the two institutions agreed on a mid- to long-term cooperation framework, including knowledge exchange, joint education, a joint master's program, and international projects. In August, they established three working groups focused on the joint master's program, educational innovation, and forums and collaborative projects.
In particular, they discussed collaboration on digital-based educational models, such as VR- and AI-based learning innovation and the development of policy training programs.
President Yu Gilsang stated, "The specialized training and policy consulting provided by ICTILO make a significant contribution to the international community," adding, "As a national university specializing in TVET, HRD, and employment service education, the missions of Korea University of Technology and Education and ITCILO are closely aligned."
He also emphasized, "Through this agreement, we will establish a long-term cooperative structure in education, research, policy training, and digital learning innovation, and concretize the development of the joint master's program. We aim to present future-oriented learning models based on AI, VR, and the metaverse to international organizations and developing countries."
