Comprehensive Inspection Finds 13 Jackets with Incorrect Filling Ratios
The North Face: "We Apologize, Refund Process Underway"
The North Face has officially admitted to incorrectly stating the filling material blend ratios in some of its padded products and issued a formal apology.
Youngone Outdoor, the operator of The North Face, stated on its official online mall on December 3, "We feel a deep sense of responsibility regarding the incorrect filling material blend ratios found in some of the '1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket' products recently sold through certain distribution channels," adding, "We sincerely apologize for the great disappointment caused to customers who trusted and purchased our products."
The company continued, "As soon as we became aware of the incorrect filling material information, we immediately corrected the relevant product details to prevent any further issues. At the same time, we launched a comprehensive inspection of all down products sold through every distribution channel, and so far, we have identified and corrected 13 products with inaccurately stated blend ratios."
Youngone Outdoor announced, "We will individually inform customers who purchased the affected products during the period of incorrect product information, providing them with a refund process and contact number in sequence."
The company further emphasized, "The fundamental cause of this incident was our negligence in the verification process. By promptly and transparently disclosing accurate information as it is, we will make this the starting point for addressing the root of the problem. We will also do our utmost to prevent recurrence and ensure thorough management of product information delivery in the future."
Recently, there was controversy over the labeling of filling material blend ratios for some '1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket' products sold on the online fashion platform Musinsa. A customer inquired about the filling material of the product, and while the product page stated '80% goose down, 20% feathers,' it was confirmed that recycled down, which is a mixture of goose and duck feathers, was actually used.
On December 2, Musinsa announced in a notice, "This issue arose after The North Face released its new season products. During the process where The North Face's outsourced sales agency updated product information on Musinsa, some of the existing information was not properly revised, resulting in incorrect blend ratio information for the product filling being displayed at the top of the Musinsa product page. We will disclose our customer response process and respond swiftly to minimize customer inconvenience and damage."
