"Wildfire Response Drill"
Yeongyang County Strengthens Disaster Preparedness with Realistic Training
"Wildfires are no longer a threat!"
Officials from Yeongyang County and related organizations completed an intensive training session, not battling 'flames' themselves, but focusing on 'wildfire suppression'.
On December 3, Yeongyang County in North Gyeongsang Province conducted a simulated wildfire response drill at the Yeongyang Mountain Village Culture Center to establish a prompt and systematic response system in the event of a wildfire.

This drill targeted 17 employees from the Forest and Greenery Division, simulating a wildfire scenario and following real-life procedures. The focus was on checking and preparing for emergencies using wildfire command equipment.
In particular, a simulated on-site wildfire command center was set up, where participants established the command center's organizational chart, arranged equipment, and checked the command communication network. During the simulation, the on-site command center strengthened its response capabilities by assessing its ability to predict wildfire spread, guide resident evacuations, designate suppression zones, conduct initial firefighting operations, and carry out mop-up activities.
County Governor Oh Dochang stated, "The risk of wildfires is increasing due to dry winter weather and strong winds, making the completeness of the initial response system extremely important. Through this simulation drill, we will immediately address any shortcomings and further enhance our disaster preparedness."
Yeongyang County announced that it will continue to conduct practical wildfire response drills and, in the future, will collaborate with related organizations to implement even more systematic wildfire response measures.
