Dunamu and Hana Financial Group to Develop Blockchain-Based Global Financial Services

On December 4, Dunamu, a company specializing in blockchain and fintech, announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hana Financial Group to jointly develop blockchain-based financial services.

Through this agreement, Dunamu and Hana Financial Group plan to design a new financial infrastructure incorporating blockchain technology and to take the lead in the transformation toward future finance.


Specifically, the two companies agreed to collaborate in various areas, including establishing a blockchain-based overseas remittance process, introducing new technologies across all aspects of foreign exchange operations, and advancing services related to Hana Money. Dunamu will share its blockchain technology expertise, including its proprietary blockchain 'Kiwa Chain,' with Hana Financial Group.


The blockchain-based overseas remittance process to be introduced by the two companies is targeted for implementation in the first quarter of next year. It will first be adopted for remittances between Hana Bank’s headquarters and its overseas subsidiaries and branches. The two companies plan to gradually expand the infrastructure and systems in line with technological validation and policy changes.


Kyungseok Oh, CEO of Dunamu, stated, "Once stablecoins are commercialized, blockchain infrastructure such as chains and wallets to support them will become mainstream. Existing financial services, including payments, asset management, and capital markets, are expected to shift to Web3-based services."


He added, "Dunamu will work together with Hana Financial Group to create a new model for the future of the global financial market."


Eunhyung Lee, Vice Chairman of Hana Financial Group, said, "With the commercialization of blockchain technology imminent and the institutionalization of stablecoins approaching, now is a critical moment when a new era of future finance is opening. Hana Financial Group and Dunamu have agreed to pursue borderless expansion through advanced technology."


He further stated, "The two companies will be able to secure competitiveness in the rapidly changing global financial market and provide the best solutions to meet customer needs."
