This year’s communication meetings began in Gajwa-dong in August and continued for more than three months through December. The city has completed its “all-district communication administration tour” for the fourth consecutive year, visiting all 44 districts without exception.
At the six district meetings held this week, numerous residents from each area participated and shared issues closely related to daily life, such as basic infrastructure, safety, transportation, and the environment. The mayor, district heads, and relevant department leaders attended to explain the review status and future action plans for each suggestion, and discussed practical solutions so that residents’ opinions could lead to real improvements.
On December 1 in Jugyo-dong, residents raised suggestions for improving safety and basic infrastructure, including: resolving visibility obstructions and installing additional guide posts due to illegal parking near Wondang Elementary School; and reconstructing the community center in the 24th district (Dokgot-i Village), which has suffered severe deterioration such as cracks and leaks since its completion in 1991.

In Wonsin-dong, residents proposed: installing additional alarm and broadcasting facilities to address the issue of flood warnings not being delivered in the area around Gongneungcheon Wondanggyo; and building an integrated community center with better accessibility at the “community center reserved site” in Sinwon-dong, lot 606, to enhance disaster response and expand community spaces.
On December 2 in Changneung-dong, suggestions included: repairing damage and cracks on Yongdu-ro 47beon-gil in Yongdu-dong (about 75 meters); installing signs to restrict bicycles and kickboards at the Balmul Playground under Sesol Bridge on Changneungcheon; and pruning trees at Yongdu Samgeori that obscure traffic lights and signs, which increases the risk of traffic accidents, to improve safety and road infrastructure.
In Haengsin 4-dong, residents requested: replacing and adding benches along the approximately 2-kilometer Seongsacheon walking trail; installing CCTV to eliminate blind spots around the restroom at Seojeong Bamnamu Children’s Park; and completely repaving the 290-meter central bicycle road from Garamae Intersection to Seojeong Pharmacy to address cracks and confusing surface colors, all aimed at improving safety and the pedestrian and cycling environment.

On December 3 in Seongsa 2-dong, residents submitted requests for: landscaping to improve the pedestrian environment on the slope along Goyang-daero in front of Eoullim 1 and 8 complexes; enhancing traffic safety facilities (anti-slip pavement and speed bumps) on the downhill section of Hoguk-ro 716beon-gil, a senior protection zone; a full renovation of aging playground equipment at Seongsa No.1 Children’s Park; and expanding parking by building a parking tower at Seongsa No.1 and No.2 public parking lots to meet demand.
In Hyoja-dong, suggestions included: securing an alternative road in the Hyoja-dong 1st district area, where the function of the residential road has been lost due to private land road closures; resolving delays in the completion of the designated stream in Jichuk District and urging the transfer of management to LH; maintaining the reserved site for a high school in Jichuk District and emphasizing the need for a new high school; requesting the legal district name “Bukhan-dong” be changed; and increasing or extending bus routes to respond to growing transportation demand between Jichuk Station and Bukhansan, all aimed at improving education, local identity, and transportation infrastructure.
At each meeting, the mayor personally presented certificates of appreciation to two residents who have contributed to community development and activities, expressing gratitude for their efforts.

An official from Goyang Special City stated, “We will develop effective improvement measures for daily issues such as transportation, safety, living environment, and infrastructure, which we heard about directly in the field, through interdepartmental collaboration. We will continue to listen to the voices of every district equally and pursue field-oriented communication.”
Meanwhile, the city has completed communication meetings in all 44 districts this year, and the suggestions received at the meetings will be reviewed by each department and gradually incorporated into city policies.
