Eco-Friendly Facility Management and Improved Incineration Efficiency
Awarded "Top Facility" in Operation Status Evaluation for Four Consecutive Years
Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on December 4 that it had been selected as the top facility in the nation in the 2025 Waste Disposal Facility Operation Status Evaluation, which was hosted by the Ministry of Climate and Energy and implemented by the Korea Environment Corporation.
This evaluation targeted 51 incineration facilities with a capacity of less than 48 tons per day. Geochang County received the Minister of Climate and Energy Award, a plaque certifying it as the top facility, and a prize of 3 million won.
According to the evaluation results, the Geochang County incineration facility was highly rated across various indicators, including efforts to improve energy utilization by using incineration heat, the stable supply of energy to the National Sports Center, transparent disclosure of environmental pollutant emissions, and eco-friendly facility management and incineration efficiency. As a result, it was honored with the grand prize.
In particular, with this achievement, the county has ranked first nationwide for four consecutive years in the category of incineration facilities processing less than 48 tons per day, once again proving the reputation of "Clean Geochang."
County Governor Koo Inmo stated, "Incineration facilities are core environmental infrastructure closely linked to residents' daily lives, so thorough management and eco-friendly operation are of utmost importance. We will continue to maintain the highest standards of facility management through even more systematic and stable operations in the future."
