Jangseong County Promotes Residents' Health with Comprehensive Medical Welfare

Jangseong County is making multifaceted efforts to promote the health of its residents.

According to Jangseong County on December 3, the most notable area is the management and prevention of infectious diseases. The county is systematically implementing a range of initiatives, including establishing a proactive infectious disease response system, managing national vaccination programs, providing tuberculosis management for residents vulnerable to infection, and offering on-site infectious disease prevention education.

The county has also drawn attention by strengthening its cooperation system with relevant agencies such as the fire department and police station to enable a swift response to the spread of infectious diseases. Additional comprehensive support is being provided, such as free rental of portable disinfection equipment and support for pertussis vaccinations for spouses of pregnant women. This year, the county was recognized as an outstanding local government in the "Infectious Disease Management Project Evaluation" and received a commendation from the Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

Specialized support for women and children also stands out. Jangseong County has established and is operating an artificial intelligence-based "Smart Mom Care Remote Health Management System." Using digital devices such as smartwatches, scales, and blood pressure monitors, health indicators of pregnant women are measured and monitored in real time by experts in various fields, including doctors, nurses, and nutritionists.

There is also strong positive feedback for the operation of prenatal Pilates, pregnancy and childbirth classes, and a remote depression management system for pregnant women. Other detailed support measures include the installation of "Smart Nursing Rooms" at festival venues, specialized counseling for multicultural families, and the establishment of a cooperative system with the 119 emergency call service.

Recently, these efforts have borne fruit. Jangseong County was selected as an outstanding case for women and children specialization at this year's Jeonnam Province Community Integrated Health Promotion Project Performance Conference, earning the award for the second consecutive year. In July of this year, the county also received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award, demonstrating its excellence nationwide.

Alongside these efforts, the county is also focusing on improving access to medical care. This year, Jangseong County operated the "Visiting Rural Doctor Bus" a total of four times. More than 2,000 rural residents, who typically have difficulty visiting hospitals, received vision tests and Western medical services through the "Visiting Rural Doctor Bus."

The county is also running the "Hospital Escort Service," which assists elderly residents who have difficulty traveling to hospitals on their own. This program provides round-trip transportation and escort personnel for residents aged 65 and older who cannot easily receive help from family or caregivers. Applications can be made by calling or visiting the local township administrative welfare center in person.

Kim Hanjong, Governor of Jangseong County, stated, "We will continue to prioritize the health of our residents as our top policy goal," adding, "We aim to create a vibrant Jangseong where everyone, from children to the elderly, can live energetically."
