Attempted Abduction a Week Prior to the Crime

An additional accomplice has been indicted in connection with the attempted abduction and murder of well-known YouTuber Sutak (31, real name Ko Jin-ho) in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Songdo International City, Incheon. It has been reported that this individual agreed to receive more than 150 million won if the crime succeeded and provided tools such as a vehicle for the crime.

On December 3, the Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office’s Criminal Division 2, specializing in violent crime and forensic investigation (headed by Chief Prosecutor Park Jongseon), announced that it had indicted Mr. A (36) on charges of aiding and abetting robbery resulting in injury and joint unlawful confinement under the Act on the Punishment of Violent Acts.

Mr. A is accused of lending his vehicle, duct tape, work gloves, and other tools to the group attempting to abduct YouTuber Sutak in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, on November 26. He is also accused of attempting to abduct the YouTuber together with his accomplices a week prior to the incident, but failing in that attempt.

It has been determined that Mr. A participated in the crime after agreeing to receive more than 150 million won from the stolen goods if the crime was successful.

Previously, the prosecution had already indicted two individuals, including Mr. B (25), a used car dealer, on charges of attempting to abduct and murder the YouTuber. During the investigation into Mr. B’s group, the prosecution discovered that they used a vehicle registered under another person’s name for the crime. Based on Mr. B’s testimony, “We have secured one person, so only the boss needs to come,” they identified additional accomplices and subsequently arrested and detained Mr. A.

Furthermore, a digital forensic analysis of Mr. B’s mobile phone revealed additional search records related to the planning of the crime. It was also determined that a week before the incident, the group had tried to lure the YouTuber to Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, in an attempt to abduct him and steal valuables, but failed as the victim did not appear.

Previously, Mr. B’s group had already been indicted on charges of attempted robbery-murder and joint unlawful confinement under the Act on the Punishment of Violent Acts. They are accused of luring Sutak, a well-known gaming YouTuber, to the parking lot of his apartment, assaulting him with a blunt object more than ten times, abducting him into a vehicle, and attempting to kill him by transporting him to a cemetery parking lot in Geumsan County, South Chungcheong Province, approximately 200 kilometers away.

Mr. B, a used car dealer, reportedly became acquainted with Sutak through vehicle transactions. After Sutak demanded the return of his deposit due to Mr. B’s failure to fulfill a luxury SUV purchase contract, Mr. B lured him by promising to pay the money and then committed the crime.

At the time, YouTuber Sutak suffered serious injuries, including severe blows to the face, but his life was not in danger.

A prosecution official stated, “We will do our utmost to maintain the indictment so that the defendants receive sentences commensurate with their crimes,” and added, “We will continue to strictly crack down on violent crimes that threaten public safety through active supplementary investigations.”
