Employees from the Environmental Hygiene Division, whose primary responsibilities are disease control and hygiene management, momentarily set aside their usual duties to head out to an apple orchard where the apples had ripened to a bright red.
On December 2, employees of the Environmental Hygiene Division of Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province carried out the 'Second Half Rural Volunteer Activity' with the aim of addressing the severe labor shortage in rural areas and fostering mutual growth with the local community.
They provided intensive support for apple harvesting and sorting at an apple farm in Hwacheon-ri, where help was urgently needed. In addition, they assisted with clearing fallen fruit and performed other practical farm tasks required on site.
Kim Singyu, head of the Environmental Hygiene Division, stated, "All our employees participated together to provide meaningful support to farms struggling with aging populations and labor shortages," emphasizing, "I hope this volunteer activity serves as a valuable opportunity to realize the value of urban-rural coexistence and to invigorate the local economy."
