Since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, Yangpyeong County has consistently achieved tangible results over the past three and a half years, even amid economic downturns and various challenges, setting a clear direction for regional transformation. With the revision of the special public notice for the introduction of eco-friendly vessels on the Namhangang River, the selection of Dumulmeori as a UN Best Tourism Village, and the approval of the Yangdong General Industrial Complex, long-standing local issues have been resolved, securing new growth engines for Yangpyeong.

Yangpyeong County has prioritized strengthening its safety infrastructure. The county has improved essential facilities by completing the Sinwon Water Purification Plant, constructing a new groundwater storage dam, and expanding the Jipyeong Reservoir. Additionally, it has enhanced public safety by increasing the number of drainage pump stations, expanding landslide prevention facilities, installing more CCTV cameras, and introducing smart city solutions.
In the environmental sector, the county reduced per capita waste output by an average of 4 kilograms through stricter waste separation and increased use of reusable products. The expansion of the Environmental Education Center's functions and the operation of bicycle education programs in schools have laid the foundation for environmental education. The county's achievements were recognized with the top prize in the "Making Gyeonggi Clean" initiative.
In tourism, new waterfront tourism attractions have been created in the heart of Yangpyeong, including the completion of the Namhangang Terrace and the establishment of the Mulmaeun Market Light Street. The foundation for designating Dumulmeori and Semiwon as National Gardens has been established, and improvements to the Yongmunsan Tourist Site and the operation of year-round festivals have expanded Yangpyeong's tourism appeal across the region.
In the fields of sports and health, Yangpyeong has expanded its sports infrastructure by completing the Yangpyeong Sports Complex, improving the park golf course, and creating the Mulsorigil and Barefoot Trails. The county has also strengthened its foundation as a healthy city by signing agreements for childbirth medical care, opening new health facilities, and operating a dementia care center.
The county views 2026 as a crucial turning point to conclude the achievements of the 8th administration and transition to the 9th. Next year's county administration will focus on strengthening public welfare, completing the tourism and cultural belt, and advancing toward a future-oriented city.
In public welfare, the county will expand the local currency program, support small businesses, revitalize commercial districts, and expedite permit processing. Expanding transportation infrastructure is also a key task, with plans to extend the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, promote metropolitan railways, and improve essential infrastructure such as water supply and sewage systems. Welfare policies will continue, including creating a favorable environment for childbirth and childcare, supporting youth education expenses, and building welfare housing for seniors.
The tourism and cultural belt aims to establish a comprehensive stay-type tourism infrastructure across the central, eastern, and western regions by linking the Namhangang Y-shaped suspension bridge, the Yanggeuncheon promenade, and the Baegunbong cable car design. The completion of the Gudun Art Station, revitalization of the Yongmunsan Tourist Site, and expansion of year-round festivals will further diversify tourism resources.
In the future city sector, the county will promote carbon neutrality, expand zero-emission vehicle infrastructure, and strengthen the resource circulation system. Policies to expand jobs, housing, and spaces for a youth-friendly city will be implemented in earnest, with the development of the Yangdong General Industrial Complex expected to be a key pillar for local job creation. Alongside these efforts, long-term urban strategies such as the 2030 population policy, regional balanced development projects, station area development, and expansion of metropolitan road networks will proceed in parallel.
