CEO Garman's signature showmanship stood out

On the morning of December 2 (local time), the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, was bustling with activity. On the second day of Amazon Web Services (AWS)' annual event, 're:Invent 2025,' Ballroom F, where AWS CEO Matt Garman was delivering his keynote speech, was packed with attendees. It took more than 10 minutes just to enter the venue following the guidance staff.

Although the keynote speech was scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m., the venue was already filled to capacity more than 30 minutes before the event started. The faces of developers from around the world, who had come to hear the keynote, were filled with anticipation. At the center stage, a DJ energized the crowd with upbeat music and turntable performances.

At exactly 8:00 a.m., an introductory video for re:Invent played, and CEO Garman appeared on stage. The participants greeted him with applause and cheers. For about two hours, he tirelessly introduced dozens of AWS's core and new services one by one. Every time CEO Garman unveiled a new service or feature, the audience responded with enthusiastic applause. The event was also broadcast online through the AWS website.

CEO Garman's signature showmanship was on full display. While introducing 'Trainium,' AWS's self-designed AI chip, he surprised the audience by unveiling a server rack built with Trainium chips on stage. Near the end of his keynote, he displayed a stopwatch on the screen and said, "I will announce 25 new products in the next 10 minutes," warming up as the audience responded with laughter and cheers. True to his word, he introduced all the new services before the 10-minute timer ran out, earning another round of applause from the attendees.

Meanwhile, re:Invent is an annual gathering where cloud experts from around the world come together in Las Vegas to share the latest technologies and trends in the cloud industry. AWS initially anticipated around 50,000 participants, but more than 60,000 people attended the event. CEO Garman expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you for attending the keynote. I could feel your enthusiasm."
