Busan Port Authority Introduces AI Safety Management System 'Plan2Do' at Small-Scale Sites for the First Time

“Filling the Safety Management Gap at Sites Without Safety Managers”
Pilot Operation Launched at North Port Maintenance Project

Busan Port Authority (BPA), led by President Song Sangkeun, has launched a pilot implementation of the AI-based safety management system 'Plan2Do' at the maintenance site of the North Port, aiming to strengthen safety management capabilities at small-scale construction sites.

Although the site is a small-scale project with a construction cost of less than 5 billion KRW, it includes high-risk operations such as working at heights. Therefore, this measure is intended to address the safety management blind spots at sites not legally required to have designated safety managers.

In September, BPA reviewed the latest construction safety technology trends and consulted with several technology companies at the '2025 Korea Construction Safety Expo' held at Ilsan KINTEX. Afterward, BPA selected Asiana IDT's 'Plan2Do' as the final choice, as it offers features such as automatic detection of risk factors, automatic generation of safety training materials, and provision of weather-linked safety guidelines.

From the initial stage of the pilot introduction, BPA conducted preliminary training for site managers on November 28 and plans to immediately review and support any improvements identified during operation. In addition, safety data collected by the AI system will be monitored in real time by project supervisors, who will provide feedback to enhance the effectiveness of safety management at small-scale sites.

In the long term, BPA plans to use this data to further advance its safety management system, including the development of customized preemptive response manuals for each pier.

Song Sangkeun, President of BPA, stated, "Small-scale sites are relatively vulnerable in terms of safety personnel and systems. With this pilot introduction, we will expand our AI-based safety management model to reduce safety blind spots throughout Busan Port and achieve our goal of zero serious accidents."
